Peer Listeners are Mandated Reporters Learn More Here.

Setting Up Your First Peer Listening Session

Our Peer Listeners are required to report any & all mention of topics that indicate past/present danger and the need for higher-level intervention. We ask that you consider this before and while speaking with a Peer Listener. Please note that our peer listeners are not physicians or licensed therapists, and we do not provide mental health treatment or therapy.

The mention of any type of child or elder abuse, thoughts/plans of harming oneself or others, and illegal activities must be reported (even if these topics are related to a past instance). Topics such as dealing with life stressors, feeling overwhelmed with obligations, imposter syndrome in medical school, for example, do NOT fall under mandated reporting.

We want to ensure your mental health needs are addressed properly; if you are unsure whether your concern would fall under mandated reporting, please schedule an appointment with your medical schools Wellness or counseling Center prior to speaking with a Peer Listener.
